HideRef will remove referrer and risk to get your site banned is decreased.
Hitleap feature will change original referrer (hitleap) with fake referrers (google, facebook, etc). In traffic source will appear other website, but in this way, risk to get your site banned is higher, because google, facebook and other websites, doesn't likes these kind of things.

True but people shouldn't just use "google.com" as a referrer they should actually link to a google article for example because you can't even get hits straight from "google.com"
Was just an example, honestly I don't care what websites they use for fake traffic source, I just tried to explain the difference.
