If it were possible to turn the script into a plugin for WP I think it open up a whole world of possibilities.
The first and obvious thing would be templating the style of the site. Changing the theme of the site easily so each one of the PES sitees don't all look the same without heaving modifying the core files.
Then being able to use any number of different plugin to help aid in the functionality of the site.
I might take a stab at it some time down the road. But building plugins is not my forte. I can read the code just fine and hack code to get an end result. But this would be something new.
