We want to change our design, because its to boring. We do not use a nice bg on the version that is online at this moment. But we had the feeling to boost the design to a new generation 
Most of the users are young people and thats why we wanted to choose to a hip design
But you are right, we never used that kind of bg in other sites that we designed. Its just a test to get feedback. We would never take this design for an business page
